    PULCHRI STUDIO

Pulchri Studio was founded in 1847 as the “Schilderkundig Genootschap Pulchri Studio” [The Pulrichi Studio Society for The Art of Painting]. At the present, Pulchri Studio has 440 artist members and 700 “art-loving members”. Its Vrijheid [Freedom] exhibition was organised to link up with the Freedom exhibition of The Hague Sculpture. From Freedom to Vrijheid and vice versa. In this way, The Hague Sculpture literally penetrates Pulchri; in a number of halls, sculptures are exposed. The set-up allows the public to literally view two art forms side by side. See also the Pulchri Studio website: www.pulchri.nl.

Opening of the first Vrijheid/Freedom exhibition

This first exhibition was held from 31 May till 12 June 2008 and linked up to the exhibition of American sculpture from 1958 onward organised this year by The Hague Sculpture. Pulrichi had asked artists to give their own scintillating interpretation of the concept of Freedom.
